Karl Lagerfeld, who heads up the Chanel brand, recently chastened German women’s magazine Brigette for their choice to use “ordinary, realistic” models in their future fashion shoots.
“These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly,” he snapped.
He added that haute couture’s main preoccupation was “with dreams and illusions, and no one wants to see round women”.
If your dreams and illusions are of women so painfully thin they could be starving, perhaps.
Oh, great, and now Ralph Lauren may have fired a 5′ 10″ size-4 model for being “too fat.”
