“It’s Murder, Mary!” to benefit Bartell Theatre in Madison

The campy comedy “It’s Murder, Mary” opens next week for a 3-week run.

(Madison, WI)  StageQ, the local queer theater company is partnering with OUT!Cast Theatre to bring the gay murder mystery comedy “It’s Murder, Mary!” to the upstairs Drury at the Bartell Theater June 17 – July 2, 2011. The goal is to raise $5,000 for the Bartell Foundation.

The campy comedy from California writers Andrew Black & Patricia Milton, is an adult comedy spoof of Agatha Christies stories, but with all gay men, trapped in an old hunting lodge while a movie-obsessed killer is knocking them off one by one in the style of old classic movies.

OUT!Cast Theater is the producing project of Steve Noll, a board member of StageQ, to do shows that serve as community fundraisers. “The goal of this show,” says Noll, who’s funding the production as well as directing, “is to recoup the cost of the show and then donate all profits to the Bartell Foundation and StageQ.”  The Bartell Theatre is in the middle of a fundraising campaign, so many of the PTCs at the theatre are offering support for this production as well.
