Is The Three-Act Play Dead?

Berkeley Rep Blog has a new post up about the demise of the three-act play. I tend to agree that there are fewer and fewer three-act plays; it seems old fashioned. On the other hand, most modern films are told in three acts.

Then I think about “The Lily’s Revenge” at the Magic Theatre: Five acts! And very popular. I guess the best advice is to tell the story in the number of acts it takes.
